“It takes teamwork to make the dream work” — eWomenNetwork motto

The first three letters in the word Kindness are K I N, and what does Kin mean?

Kin = Kindred = Blood, Clan, Family, etc.

All the definitions mentioned above are just groups of people, people related in some matter, people who are connected, people who get together or are of the same kind. We could say people who are pursuing the same objective, goals, mission… Now let’s move these definitions into the business world:

Can there be a business without connection, without kindred spirits, or without people of the same kind, connected, moving forward towards the same mission? The answer is No! As humans, we are designed to be together, form communities, clans, tribes… and in business, we call it TEAMS!

People of all kinds!

And how does making connections in the business world is different? Although everyone in the Team is moving toward the same mission, we might have different ideals, beliefs, religions, or political views among others, therefore we need some guide or strategy that will help us get along. And that is where we need to use our “kindness” sensor to move us to the one or many things that makes us similar to our colleagues, such as the Goals and Missions of the company, the same project or passion about the products and services the company offers, etc.

No matter what! connection is vital in business and comes in many forms, the people who get ahead are those who understand others, usually the kind of leaders that use: Compassion, empathy, giving, can connect with people in a heart-centered way that they can anticipate another person’s motivations, thoughts, and actions.

Leaders have the task to make their team members connect with their company brand, mission, goals, so that those differentials in the personalities do not come to the table. Leaders must create engagement among their team that creates a positive atmosphere reflecting in their customer service.

As a Leader you must create the “Ooohh Aaahh” factor in your organization, making your team of employees fall in love with your company, so that customer satisfaction is only a reflection of the inside heart of your company out! Help your team be passionate about what they do by getting to know about them, even when you do not interact with them personally.

Create a calendar where you know each and every one of your employee’s birthday and anniversary dates. If at work that day stop by their desk and say Hey Lucy, Happy Birthday! or leave a note on their keyboard. Big corporations send a greeting card to their employees directly to their homes, why not to celebrate when in a smaller group?

Celebrate your Team!!

When bad circumstances arrive in one of your team members’ lives, set time in your calendar for a 1:1, talk to them and offer support, also encourage other team members to be supportive towards their colleague.

Create a Positive Team Environment!

By leading with Kindness your team will mirror your behavior and soon clients will be spreading the word about your business!!!
