How to get noticed when you are new in business, a niche, or simply moved to another town. We all know we need to attract the right kind of attention, not like in the old days when “all publicity is good publicity”. Today you need to have brand consciousness and instantaneous communication makes building and maintaining strong, positive public opinion a must.

The best way to get noticed in a new environment is to always try to help others by asking them what is their ideal client and giving them contacts, leads, information, resources, or whatever else they may need.

Referrals, Leads, Connections!

The most important thing is “Be Authentic” let the true you, that one inside your heart come out and attract the type of people you want to work with! Another thing you need to do is be present, and intentional, don’t be distracted, and allow others to fully express themselves. Concentrate on what they say and take notes, ask questions, follow their thoughts, and think about how you can help them. Distinguish yourself by being completely present, asking questions, offer ideas, this helps others relax because they know you are listening to them and hearing what they say.

When talking to others be intentional to make connections, and build relationships that last, that is your main objective! Making close connections is essential because people prefer to work and interact with those with whom they feel connected. They have common interests, feelings, values, and beliefs. They trust those people and want to help them. Do not try to close a deal, instead build those close long-term connections that will endure.

Great networkers are constantly trying to meet new people, learn about them, and link them so that they can build close mutually beneficial relationships. Therefore stand out and boost your business by developing a connecting attitude. Be pleasant, friendly, and fun. People what to be with and do business with those they like, not with grouches.

As I said before, be a connector, train yourself to be one, and develop that connecting frame of mind constantly thinking in terms of those with whom you can connect. Develop two lists, one the list of people you would like to meet and the second list of the people with whom you could connect with one another. List what they have in common. Since connectors are always trying to make matches, they become possibility people, and possibility people are those who explore, try, and make things happen.

Another point of high importance is to have Integrity! And this means, be responsible, doing what is right and necessary for humanity, not just for oneself. Businesses that are based on integrity always do a great job, strike fair deals, and treat people well. They exist to serve their customers, not just their shareholders. Set a high standard of professionalism by consistently performing excellently, without delays, excuses, or broken promises. Build a reputation for excellence.

Being humble is a great trade however when it comes to promoting oneself, it is necessary to overcome Discomfort, what this means is overcoming the reluctance to self-promote, if it makes you uncomfortable, state the facts without embellishment or exaggeration. Distinguish yourself from marketers who get so caught up in the heat of a potential sale that they cross the line between the truth and wishful thinking. Be noticed by always telling the truth!
